On 10 December 2020 KazNARU participated in the first scientific-practical conference on "Sustainable Development of Agriculture in Central Asia and the Caucasus". The conference is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Consortium of Agricultural Universities for Development in Central Asia and the Caucasus (CASCADE).
On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan spoke Head of Department of Scientific Support and Social Policy of the Ministry of Agriculture Sh. Koskaraeva, on behalf of JSC "National Agrarian Research and Education Center" - Acting Director of Education Department B. Nasyrkhanova.
The First Vice-Rector, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.M. Tireuov made a welcoming speech on behalf of KazNARU, who congratulated all participants of the consortium with the significant date and emphasized the special role of KazNARU in developing cooperation between the universities.
K.M. Tireuov noted that during these years the Consortium has done a lot of work to develop cooperation and partnership in the field of training and retraining of specialists for agribusiness, research and innovation aimed at agricultural development in Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
The consortium maintains close links with leading universities and associations in the field of agriculture - Wageningen University (Netherlands), the Association of Agricultural Research Institutes of Central Asia and the Caucasus (CACARI), the International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), etc.
The Consortium of Agricultural Universities in Central Asia and the South Caucasus, as well as the Council of Rectors of the Leading Agricultural Universities of the CIS, aims to improve the ranking of universities. Having achieved success and recognition at the national level, the universities aim to strengthen their position in the international scientific and educational space.
This is done by improving academic reputation, the citation index and the number of international students and foreign lecturers.
It is encouraging that the work of the Consortium is carried out under the aegis of the Global Consortium for Higher Education and Research (GCHERA).
Our universities have a long-standing partnership with each other. Together we implement research projects, support the initiatives of the Councils of Young Scientists, develop academic mobility, the Extension system, and hold summer and winter schools, conferences, webinars, etc.
K.M. Tireuov expressed confidence that the mutually beneficial cooperation between our universities will be fruitful and will contribute to the development of education and science in our countries.
Representatives of ministries, rectors and vice-rectors of leading universities from more than 15 countries of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia and foreign countries as well as representatives of foreign associations such as ICARDA, GCHERA, ECAF, etc. attended the opening ceremony and delivered their congratulatory speeches. The conference was opened by Uktam Umurzakov, Chairman of the CASCADE Consortium, Rector of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME), Member of the Executive Committee of the Global Confederation of Agricultural and Life Sciences University Associations, Chairman of the Republican Council for Higher Education of Uzbekistan.
In the final part of the plenary session, the results of the competition in the categories were summed up: "Best undergraduate", "Best doctoral", "Best scientist by international criteria", "Best scientist by of region" "Best university" 2020.
In the nomination "Best University" 2020 KazNARU deservedly awarded 1st place. 3rd place in the nomination "Best scientist by international criteria" took Head of the department "Biological Safety", Director of the Research Institute of Biological Safety Problems, Head of Department of "Biological safety" professor Abylay Sansyzbay, 3rd place in the nomination "Best Teacher" took Head of Department of "IT technologies and automation" , professor Adbukarim Serikbaev, 2nd place in the nomination "Best PhD student" took a doctoral student of the 2nd year of specialty Agricultural Engineering and Technology Nursultan Orynbaev.
The conference will be held in 8 sections: Topical issues of higher education; Climate change and sustainable management of natural resources; Digitalization, mechanization and automation of production; Food security; Economics of agricultural development and risk management; Conservation agriculture; Geographic information technology. Professors of KazNARU made presentations in the sections.
