On August 24, 2020, experts of the “National Agrarian Science and Educational Center” JSC (NASEC) jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in video negotiations with the World Bank on practical support for the Sustainable Livestock Development Program.

The event was attended by representatives of NASEC subsidiaries system: Kazakh National Agrarian University (KazNAU), Kazakh Agro Technical University named after S. Seifullin (KATU), West Kazakhstan Agro Technical University named after Zhangir Khan.

During the negotiations, the participants discussed changes in the State Program for the Development of the Agroindustrial Complex for 2017-2021 and the subsequent development of a new State Program, as well as the implementation of the Agricultural Consulting Strategy, technical recommendations on best practices for pasture management and animal husbandry, which were developed by national and international experts.

Also, the scientists discussed issues related to the concept of grading training for farmers and the web application "Pasture resources of Kazakhstan". In total, the training will cover 100,000 farmers, 20,000 of whom are women farmers. The learning process will take place in distance and traditional mode.

Within the framework of the meeting, Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulmira Issayeva, in order to ensure a high-quality training, suggested that the World Bank divide the educational process into 2 separate areas of "animal husbandry" and "veterinary medicine".

Vice-rector for scientific work of KazNAU Kurdeko Alexander Pavlovich, for his part, introduced the use of the university's potential in the formation of educational materials on the necessary areas of activity. The head of the office of dissemination of knowledge of S. Seifullin KATU, Absattarov Talgat Bektayevich, said that the university specialists have extensive practical experience in training in these areas and are ready to help in the implementation of the above mentioned project.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to hold further negotiations in order to qualitatively study issues on the implementation of the project "Sustainable development of animal husbandry".

Earlier the Board of Directors of the World Bank in Washington, USA made a decision to finance the “Sustainable Livestock Development” Project developed for Kazakhstan. Under the terms of the project, the republic of Kazakhstan will receive $ 500 million for the comprehensive development of animal husbandry. The plan developed by the bank should be implemented within five years - from 2021 to 2025.
