Scientist of LLP «Fisheries Research and Production Center», the director of the Atyrau branch Kadimov Yerbolat Latifovich during online consultation told to audience about the timing of fish harvesting and issues of natural reproduction of fish in the Zhauik and Kigash rivers. 

LLP «Fisheries Research and Production Center» is subsidiary of the "National Agrarian Science and Educational Center" JSC and the only scientific institution in the country developing a biological justification for the total allowable catches of biological resources of the Zhayik-Caspian basin. 

Implementing a program of basic and applied research on scientific support for the development of the agro-industrial complex, the LLP “FRPC” successfully conducts research in all fishery reservoirs of the Zhayik-Caspian basin.

The main objectives of the institute for 50 years are the study of biological resources, the status of stocks and reproduction, forecasting the production of commercial fish.

For periods of research by the scientific staff of the branch, environmental monitoring is carried out in the river Zhaiyk and the Kigash river and the Caspian Sea with the aim of a systematic study of hydrology, hydrochemistry, toxicology, fish feed base, fish nutrition, and ichthyofauna.

 Every year, observations are made of the distribution and formation of fish numbers, their species structure, and feeding conditions.

E. Kadimov spoke about the Zhayik-Caspian basin, which is the most important fishery reservoir in Kazakhstan. About 30% of all fish raw materials in the Republic are mined and processed here.

Zhayik-Caspian basin includes 3 large fishery reservoirs of international importance. This is the transboundary river Zhayik, the transboundary river Kigash - the left channel of the Volga river delta and the Caspian Sea, which belongs to 5 Caspian states.

At present, the species composition of ichthyofauna in the fishery reservoirs of the Zhayik - Caspian basin totals about 27 species of fish, of which 16 species are commercial. Fish are fished in different areas of the basin: the marine - northeastern part of the Caspian (within the Kazakhstani part of the sea), the lower reaches of the Zhayyk river and the eastern part of the Volga delta - r. Kigach (Kurmangazinsky district).

The speaker also spoke about the timing and places of fishing.

Fishing in the Zhaiyk and Kigash rivers, as well as in the Caspian Sea, is carried out in accordance with the Fishing Rules and the adopted restrictions and prohibitions on the use of wildlife objects, their parts and derivatives, the establishment of places and terms for their use approved by the Order of the acting Chairman of the Committee for Forestry and Wildlife of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 24, 2015 N.190.

The regulations clearly defined places and dates, both commercial fishing and amateur fishing.

But for the rational use of fish resources, we must also create conditions for their reproduction.
