Abdirakhman Moldanazarovich is one of the leading scientists in Kazakhstan in the field of livestock, who have made a significant contribution to the scientific support of the country's agro-industrial complex. Over the years of scientific activity, for 25 years he headed the research institutes of animal husbandry and fodder production.
Ombayev Abdirakhman Moldanazarovich was born on January 1, 1949 in the village of Karakonyr (now Shamshi Kaldayakova) of the Otyrar district at the South Kazakhstan (now Turkestan) region.
He is a doctor of agricultural sciences (1991), professor (1994), laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science, technology and education (2005), corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2017), academician of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Kazakhstan (2006) , Academician of the Mongolian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (2013), foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2015), “Kazakhstan Respublikasynyn enbek sіnіrgen қyzmetkeri (1996), Сhevalier of the Order Qurmet (2008), Honored Worker of Agriculture of Mongolia (2010), Honored inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2014). Honorary citizen of Sozakskiy (1997) and Otyrar (2007) districts of the South Kazakhstan region.
By the International Bibliographic Center (Cambridge, Great Britain), his surname is included in the list of outstanding scientists of the world in 2008 with the award of the Gold Medal of Excellence.
For his contribution to the development of zootechnical science and education, he was awarded the Efim Fedotovich Liskun Medal (2014) by the decision of the Scientific Council of the Russian State Agrarian University - K.A. Timiryazev Moscow Agricultural Academy.
After graduating from the Almaty Veterinary Institute (1971) as a livestock scientist, he began his career as a senior laboratory assistant (1971-1972), then a junior research fellow (1972-1973) at the Kazakh Research Institute of Astrakhan sheep breeding. From 1973 to 1976 he was a graduate student of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Animal Husbandry. He worked as a junior, then senior researcher (1976-1980), head of the laboratory, head of department (1980-1988), deputy director for science of the Kazakh Research Institute of Astrakhan sheep breeding (1988-1992), akim of Sozak District of South Kazakhstan Region (1992- 1994), Director of the Kazakh Scientific Institute of Astrakhan sheep Research (1994-2002), Director of the South-West Research and Production Center of Agriculture (2002-2007), General Director of the South-West Research Institute of Livestock and crop production (2007-2011), Director General of the Kazakh Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Feed Production (2012-2018), Advisor to the Rector, Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry Production Technology of the Kazakh National Agrarian University (since September 2018).
He is the author of 510 scientific papers, including 4 monographs, 14 books. Under his leadership, 9 doctoral and 28 master's theses were defended. A.Ombayev has 69 copyright certificates for inventions and patents.
