On August 5, 2020, an online seminar was held by the largest Swiss company SUISAG on the joint development of the pig breeding industry in Kazakhstan.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Switzerland, SUISAG, the Center for Trade Policy Development “QazTrade” and Switzerland Global Enterprise.
The event was opened by the vice minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Torebayev Kairat Kalmukametovich. In his speech he noted that more than 230 Swiss companies already work in Kazakhstan. This fact confirms the active development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Switzerland.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Bakayev Alibek Assetovich, General Director of Center for Trade Policy Development "QazTrade" Abenov Arman Dauletovich, as well as Deputy Director of the Department for Production and Processing of Livestock Products of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mutayev Kairat Mendybaevich participated in the seminar as speakers.
As part of the event, the representative of SUISAG company Matteo Apley delivered the speech on the topic "The future of the pig breeding industry in Kazakhstan. He briefly introduced the seminar participants to the activities of SUISAG, spoke about the possibilities of export to China, their requirements for products and certification, and also noted the initial state of the industry in Kazakhstan.
During the “Question-Answer” session, the seminar participants asked various questions to the representative of the SUISAG. Thus, the head of the pig breeding laboratory of the North Kazakhstan Research Institute of Agriculture Assaubayev Ruslan Shonovich raised the question regarding the criterion and obligations to create a joint venture of a breeding farm. Matteo Apley explained that SUISAG is ready to assist in the following areas: genetics, artificial insemination and pig health. There is also experience in providing consultations in Russia in this field of work. Through this collaboration, we managed to increase the level of productivity,” – said SUISAG representative Matteo Apley.
On behalf of the “National agrarian science and educational center” JSC (NASEC) the event was attended by Director of the department of international cooperation and investments Borumbayeva Dana Bagdatovna, Chairman of the Board of “Asyl Tulik” Republican center for livestock breeding” JSC Seissenov Bolat Sekenovich, Head of the Pig Breeding Laboratory of the North Kazakhstan Research Institute of Agriculture Farms Assaubayev Ruslan Shonovich, Associate Professor of the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology, S. Seifullin Kazakh Agro Technical University, expert in "pig breeding" direction Yelena Vladimirovna Kukhar and scientific consultant of the Kazakh scientific research institute of animal husbandry and feed production Margarita Dolgikh.
It is worth noting that NASEC plans to create a working scientific group of subsidiaries representatives to develop and build up international cooperation in the pig breeding industry in Kazakhstan.
Following the event, SUISAG expressed interest in cooperation with Kazakhstani companies and is ready to provide assistance in the form of consultation in the field of pig breeding.
