We cordially congratulate on the 80th anniversary of Sariyev Buribai Sarievich, Kazakhstan’s leading breeder for grain crops, chief research associate of the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Plant Growing LLP (KazNIIZiR).
Sariyev Buribay Sarievich is doctor of biological sciences, professor, academician of the Academy of agricultural sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Sariyev B.S. was born on February 13, 1940 in the village of Derbisek of Saryagash district in South Kazakhstan region. In 1966 he graduated from the faculty of biology of Kazakh State University. S.M. Kirov.
In 1966-1969 he studied in full-time postgraduate study at KazSU. After completing postgraduate school and successfully defending his dissertation, he was sent by the Ministry of Higher Education of the Kazakh SSR to work at the Semipalatinsk pedagogical institute named after N.K. Krupskaya. He worked at this institute from 1969-1979 as a senior teacher, docent and head of the department. During this time, he took an active part in the training of more than 1000 teachers in biology and chemistry for secondary schools in Kazakhstan.
From 1979 to the present, Sariyev B.S. works at the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Plant Growing. Over the years, he received a doctorate in biological sciences, the title of professor and academician of the Academy of agricultural sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Sariyev B.S. developed the theoretical basis for the cultivation of varieties of grain crops and created a scientific school for the breeding of these crops. According to the results of research, he created and transferred to the State Commission for Variety Testing of agricultural crops 35 varieties of barley and oats. Among them 15 varieties of barley and 6 varieties of oats are zoned and cultivated in 9 regions of Kazakhstan and 4 in Kyrgyzstan.
In recent years, under the leadership of B.S. Sariyev created and approved for production new varieties of winter barley Aydin (2013), spring barley: Saule (1991), Zhuldyz (1993), Arna (1997), Bota (1997), Asem (2000), Sever 1 (2001), Turan -2 (2005), Akzhol (2006), Ilek 9 (2007), Zhan (2009), Symbat (2011), Syr Aruy (2011), Kuralay (2011), Kaz-Souffle (2012), Ular (2015), Ilek 36 (2016), spring oats: Baige (2010), Alaman (2011), Zhorga (2011), Kulan (2015), Donen (2018), Syrgalym (2020).
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2019, the sown area of the ARNA spring barley variety in the republic amounted to more than 500 thousand ha.
Under the scientific supervision of B.Sariyev eleven candidates and two doctors of agricultural sciences defended their thesis works. He has published more than 300 scientific papers, including 4 monographs, 22 patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan for varieties, 2 comprehensive programs for the breedin of grain crops for the South-East of Kazakhstan, 6 recommendations, 6 methodological developments, 6 catalogs, 2 brochures and 2 reference books.
He was awarded the Certificate of Honor by the National Academic Center for agrarian research of the Ministry of Agriculture of the RK (2000), Certificate of Merit of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2000), Certificate of Honor "KazAgroInnovation" (2010), Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Agriculture of the RK (2010), and the Medal of Enbek Ardageri (2015).
B.S. Sariyev is an honorary citizen of the Saryagash district of Turkestan region (2013).
