Agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan in 2020 showed positive dynamics of development.
At the government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, the results of the country's socio-economic development and the execution of the republican budget for 2020 were considered.
The Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov reported on how the agro-industrial complex developed in 2020. In general, according to him, during the reporting period, the industry maintained a positive growth trend. The volume of gross agricultural production for this period increased by 5.6% and amounted to 6.3 trillion tenge.
“This growth was mainly due to an increase in crop production by 7.8%,” the head of the agricultural department said.
In the context of regions, rates higher than republican ones were noted in 5 regions: Kostanay — 120.8%, Akmola — 112.7%, Pavlodar — 107.5%, Aktobe — 106.7% and Karaganda — 105.7%. As for the livestock industry, the volume of gross output for the specified period increased by 3% and amounted to 2.6 trillion tenge. At the same time, there has been an increase in the production of meat in live weight by 4.1%, milk — by 3.2%. Food production in January-December 2020 increased by 4% and amounted to 1.9 trillion tenge. So, there is an increase in the production of butter by 26.5%, processed rice — by 20.1%, sausages — by 8.2%, pasta — by 6.3%, processed milk — by 4.9%, fermented milk products — by 4.8%, cheese and cottage cheese — by 4.5%, flour — by 1.6%. If we talk about investments in fixed assets in agriculture, then for 12 months of 2020 their volume increased by 15% and amounted to 573.2 billion tenge. Investments in food production increased by 13.5% and amounted to 104 billion tenge.
“This growth in the industry is mainly due to the well-coordinated work of farmers and the timely adopted by the government of the work algorithm for carrying out sowing operations in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, which included ensuring the smooth movement of agricultural producers, delivery of fuel and lubricants, spare parts, seeds, fertilizers and plant protection products. As a result, the sowing campaign was carried out with high quality and within optimal agrarian terms,” said Minister Omarov.
