Nur-Sultan, February 21, 2020, the Chairman of the Board of NASEC JSC Touletai Rakhimbekov met with representatives of the transnational company Valmont.
The meeting was attended by the global director for technical support Scott Mauseth and Director for Relations with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Richard Spooner.
Due to the positive experience of cooperation between Valmont and a subsidiary of NASEC JSC the A.I. Barayev Scientific-production center for grain farming on the installation of a modern irrigation system, the Kazakh side proposed the creation of the same demonstration site on the irrigated lands of the Kazakh National Agrarian University. In this regard, the possibilities and advantages of KazNAU were presented for the implementation of the project to supply of irrigated equipment of an American company to the KazNAU demonstration site, which will provide a technology transfer for the southern regions of the country.
“On the example of business cooperation with our subsidiary A.I. Baraev SPCGF, I would like to thank our American colleagues for the work done in the field of training our farmers and installing an irrigation unit, and to note the importance of technology and knowledge transfer for the agricultural sector of Kazakhstan,” - said T. Rakhimbekov.
Skott Mauseth noted Valmont's interest in cooperation with KazNAU and suggested to develop the necessary technical parameters for the project for further discussion.
The Chairman of the Board emphasized that the National Agrarian Science and Educational Center as enterprise that integrates science and agribusiness is committed to the development of the agricultural industry through the application of international best practices.
“The NASEC is glad to cooperate with such global giant as Valmont, and we are witnessing a positive dynamic in the development of our cooperation in the agricultural sector. Kazakhstan plans to increase the area of irrigated land to 3 million hectares, and we hope that Valmont multinational irrigation units will operate on these fields,” - Toleutai Rakhimbekov summed up.
In conclusion, the parties expressed mutual understanding in the implementation of the joint project and confirmed the intention to further build it.
Multinational company Valmont is already collaborating with a subsidiary of NASEC A.I. Barayev SPCGF on the installation of three modern irrigation machines at the Center’s demonstration site.
In 2019, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Valmont Industries signed a document on the implementation of an investment project in the agricultural sector. The project aims to create a network of farms for the transfer of advanced technologies in the field of irrigation, rational use of water resources, fodder production, education and training of farmers and training of qualified personnel. Valmont Industries also intends to build a plant in Kazakhstan for the production of modern irrigation installations with a capacity of at least 1000 systems per year, with an investment volume of $ 50 million.
