Urozaliyev Rakhim Almabekovich as one of the prominent scientists of Kazakh research institute of agriculture and plant growing deserves to be noted. We thank him for his contribution to the development of agricultural science in Kazakhstan. Urozaliнev R.A. is doctor of biological sciences, academician of NAS RK.

Together with his students, he created more than 160 varieties of cereals, legumes and fodder crops, of which 72 are approved for use in Kazakhstan as well as in the countries of Central Asia and in Russia. 15 varieties created by him are widely cultivated in the CIS countries. Under his leadership, 56 candidates and doctors of science defended and obtained a degree.

Urozaliyev R.A. was born in 1935 in the Kaskelen (now Karasai) district of the Almaty region. After graduating from the Kazakh agricultural institute, he began his career in 1960 as the chief agronomist of the Ilyich state farm in the Alakol district of the Almaty region.

In 1966-1969 he studied at the postgraduate school of the All-Union breeding and genetic institute (AUBGI, Odessa). In 1989 he defended his thesis and worked at this institute as a senior research fellow, and in 1989 he defended a thesis for the degree of Doctor of biological sciences at the AUBGI.

From 1970 to the present, his labor activity is connected with the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture. In 1970-2010 he was head of the Department of grain breeding and at the same time he was the head of the Eastern breeding Center.

In 1990-1995 Urozaliyev R.A. worked at the Kazakh Academy of Agricultural Sciences as an Academician of the Secretary of the Plant production division, and in 1992 he was elected a full member of the Kazakh Agricultural Academy and its vice president. A special recognition of his merits in the field of agriculture was his election in 1992 as a foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, in 1995 he was elected a full member of the NAS of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and in 1998 a foreign member of the Russian Agricultural Academy.

From 1995 to 2003 Urozaliyev R.A. was the director of Kazakh research institute of agriculture and plant growing, at present he is the main scientific employee of the grain crops department.

Urozaliyev R.A. has published 700 scientific papers on topical issues of breeding, genetics, crop production, physiology, immunity, biotechnology, agroecology, cell breeding and genetic engineering.

For high scientific achievements in the field of wheat breeding, he was awarded the orders of the Red Banner of Labor, the Badge of Honor, the medal For Labor Distinction, and the nominal medal N. A. Nazarbayev, commemorative medals of academicians N.I. Vavilova, P.P. Lukyanenko, F.G. Kirichenko, 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals of VDNH of the USSR, the best inventor of the USSR. In 1998, he was awarded the title "Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan", is the owner of the International Prize and medals of academician V.N.Remeslo, A.Barayev and I. A. Sinyagin - “For outstanding merits of the field of wheat breeding” and the Order “Kurmet”.
