Nurpeisov Isatay Akhayevich is doctor of biological sciences, professor.

As a result of many years of scientific work, I.Nurpeisov has developed genetic-breeding principles for increasing frost resistance and winter wheat productivity.

I. Nurpeisov was born in 1950 in the Zhambyl district of the Almaty region. In 1972 he graduated from the Kazakh Agricultural Institute, specializing as an agronomist scientist, seed breeder. In the years 1972-1974 he served in the ranks of the Soviet army.

In the years 1974-1985 I.Nurpeisov studied at postgraduate school, worked as an agronomist, junior and senior researcher at the winter wheat breeding department of the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture. In 1985-1994 he worked as a leading researcher and head of the department for breeding and seed production of leguminous crops, and in 1994-1995 he was deputy director for science in Taldykorgan agricultural research institute. From 1996 to 2002 – worked as head of the spring wheat breeding laboratory and head of the wheat breeding department of Kazakh research institute of agriculture.

In 2002-2004 worked at the Kazakh National Agrarian University (KazNAU) as the head of the department of breeding and biotechnology in crop production. From 2004, he worked as deputy director for science of the Scientific and production center for agriculture and plant growing, and from 2009 to 2012 he was the general director of Kazakh research institute of agriculture and plant growing. I.Nurpeisov in 2000 defended his doctoral dissertation in the specialty 06.01.05 - breeding and seed production.

He has published more than 160 scientific works on plant breeding, seed production, genetics and biotechnology.

Under his leadership and direct participation, 36 varieties of spring and winter wheat, as well as oats, soy and corn, were created. Donors and sources of winter and spring wheat genes were identified according to economically valuable traits and biological properties. He has 7 copyright certificates and 1 patent for wheat varieties (Zhetysu, Tyumenskaya golozernaya, SKENT-3, Nadezhda, Alem, Zhenis, Almaken).
