On March 5, 2020, a meeting of the World Bank focus group on assessing the state of the environment and social systems for the Results in Investment Program (PforR) within the framework of the Sustainable Livestock Development Program project was held in Nur Sultan.
The aim of the program is to promote the development of an environmentally sustainable, inclusive and competitive livestock sector in Kazakhstan.
NASEC JSC as a strategic partner of this project acted as a co-organizer of the focus group. Focus group participants included farmers, non-governmental and international organizations, scientists and industry experts. Rauan Yerulankyzy, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Agrariran Science and Educational Center, acted as moderator of the meeting. NASEC, as a Center integrating agricultural science, education and business, makes a significant contribution to the development of the livestock sector in Kazakhstan by training personnel for the industry, promoting advanced scientific developments in production, and also through the development of a knowledge dissemination system in the agro-industrial complex.
During the meeting of focus group, explanations of the social and environmental principles of the World Bank were given, an action plan for the national social and environmental risk management system was discussed in accordance with the basic principles of the World Bank, and the participants discussed the topic of improving coordination and partnership between stakeholders.
At the end, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the NASEC Rauan Yerulankyzy summarized the discussion, highlighting the importance of discussing the project with stakeholders, noted that all the proposals made by the focus group to increase access to veterinary services, credit resources and new knowledge will improve the design of the project and expand the number of participants in project.
