International online Сonference on the topic:

«Food Security – Global Challenges»

On may 22. 2020. at 17.00. the Kazakh national agrarian University end Kazakh Research Institute of Processing and Food Industry will hold an International online conference on the topic: «Food security-global challenges».

The food security of countries is ensured by the stable operation of the agro-industrial complex. In order to maintain and improve the health of the population, it is necessary to provide it with nutritious nutrition, the structure of which must take into account national traditions.

At the same time, it is necessary to increase the stability of the food system, which is ensured not only by the volume of output, but also by the quality of its processing. Activities related to production, storage, distribution, processing – these are innovative areas of work that scientists and practitioners should engage in. Another important factor is the retail and marketing of food products.

Countries that are net importers of food are at risk for food security. Unfortunately, Kazakhstan imports from 30 to 70 % of various types of food from other countries. For example, in 2019, poultry meat imports amounted to 191.6 thousand tons (49 % of domestic consumption), sausages – about 30 thousand tons (39 %), cheeses and cottage cheese – 21.9 thousand tons (46,5 %), apples – 101 thousand tons (31.5 %), sugar about 250 thousand tons (57.3 %), fish – 30.6 thousand tons (72 %).

To reduce the share of imports of these food products, it is necessary to create deep and waste-free systems for processing products. They allow you to create high added value, which positively affects the financial stability of agribusiness.

So, for example, with one ton of wheat, 343 kg of starch are produced at a price of 120 tg/kg, 85 kg of gluten at a price of 645 tg/kg and 354 kg of feed at 36 tg/kg. As a result, the cost of finished products per ton of wheat is more than 108 thousand tenge, which is two times more than raw materials, which cost 54 thousand tenge.

These and other problematic issues, their solutions will be considered at the international online conference. Famous foreign experts will take part in it:

  • President of the Global Harmonization Initiatives, Prof. Huub Leliveld (Austria);
  • Director of the scientific center for the study of camel breeding, Prof. Bernard Faye (France);
  • Director of the Halal Institute of Putra University, Prof. Yusuf Aniza (Malaysia);
  • Rector of the Moscow State University of Food Production, Prof. Michael G. Balykhin (Russia);

  • Rector of the Odessa National Academy of Food Technologies, Prof. Bogdan V. Egor (Ukraine);
