On March 30, 2020 at the Zhambyl branch of Kazakh research institute of agriculture and plant growing the work on sowing of alfalfa for the cover of spring wheat and spring barley have begun.

This year, the Institute’s subsidiary in Zhambyl region plans to sow about 100 hectares of alfalfa. The seeds of the “Kokorai” variety, created by breeders of Kazakh research institute of agriculture and plants growing, are used as seed material.

Sowing alfalfa under the cover of crops contributes to a high yield of spring wheat and spring barley, as well as the optimal development of crops of alfalfa next year.

Currently, spring wheat, spring barley and sugar beets are sown in the Zhambyl branch of the “KazRIAPG” LLP. At the demonstration site, soil was prepared for sowing corn and soybeans. All necessary equipment, fertilizers and fuels and lubricants are available in required amount. In the coming week, spring field work will be completed at the Zhambyl branch of the Institute.

It is worth noting that this year, the farmers of Zhambyl region are provided with seeds of domestic sugar beets. In particular, the scientists of the Institute prepared coated and inlaid seeds of the “Aksu” and “Aisholpan” hybrids, which are treated with fungicides, insecticides and nutritional supplements. These seeds are not inferior in quality to their foreign counterparts, but at a price they are 3-5 times cheaper than foreign seeds. These seeds are especially suitable for farmers who have small areas within 10-20 hectares of land. Growing domestic hybrids, farmers can compare them with foreign counterparts.
