Kazakhstan exported 2.734 mln tonnes of grain and flour in grain equivalent, including 1.934 mln tonnes of wheat and 701 thsd tonnes of flour in grain equivalent in July-October, informed the press-service of the Ministry of Agriculture on November 16.

Overall grain export declined by 4% compared to July-October of 2019/20 MY. Particularly, wheat export decreased by 16%, flour export by 1%.

Export of other grains (barley, corn, rice, buckwheat, millet, etc) totaled 98 thsd tonnes, including 76 thsd tonnes of barley shipped to Iran.

“Wheat and wheat flour were mainly supplied to Central Asia as usually. Uzbekistan imported 1.293 mln tonnes of the products, Tajikistan - 406 thsd tonnes, Kyrgyzstan - 38 thsd tonnes and Turkmenistan - 11 thsd tonnes. Moreover, 593 thsd tonnes of grain were shipped to Afghanistan and 194 thsd tonnes to China”, - was stated in the message.  

The Ministry pointed out declining demand for Kazakh flour from some countries. Uzbekistan is the leading importer. It bought 1.3 mln tonnes of Kazakh flour in 2011/12 MY, 843 thsd tonnes in 2015/16 MY, 345 thsd tonnes in 2019/20 MY and 103 thsd tonnes over the first four months of 2020/21 MY.

“At the same time, Afghanistan and China have increased import of Kazakh flour in the recent years”.
